hunterbuchanan Jul 12, 2013 11:32 AM (in response to hunterbuchanan) The features that are inherently nicer on the Precision line are minor. A representative will respond quickly. The storage in it is sub-par, also I have had bad luck with the budget Asus motherboards. (Just one persons opinion) However when I used one of their higher end boards By: Charles Culp Mon, 04 Aug 2014 12:12:22 GMT Re: March 2014 - Suggested Computer Specs Charles,Great info.
Prices for all prebuilt systems include Windows 7 Professional. I assume that if I can turn off the discrete graphics card its fan will also shut off, saving a lot of noise. (I'd like to buy a pc without a However I have read that the AMD's play better with AMD systems and the NVIDIA's play better with intel systems. But I'd like to try and keep it close to $700 as I can.
No, create an account now. I just figured since you are building a computer on your own, I would let you know what you would get for your money if you built a $3000 box. A regular HD 4600 integrated with the Core i7-4790K will not be suitable. The "P" series integrated video should be sufficient for a driveworks computer. We had to launch 2015 "early" (we usually wait until SP 3.0) because of numerous bugs in 2014 beam meshing, which seem to now be fixed. We are now having to shell
Or does the motherboard automatically recognize that the graphics card has been removed and adjust accordingly (that seems way too optimistic!)? Do not rely solely on this thread. I had the budget, so I went for the SSD and K2000 video card. Are Precisions better machines in terms of component quality than XPSs (e.g., motherboards, hard drives)?

If your going to go with the intel system I'd maybe lean more towards the K600 or if it's your budget maybe go with a higher end K series. Re: Integrated graphics + discrete card: what happens when it's not in use? check my blog It also doesn't work with the AMD T 7470 and the on board Intel 4000 graphics. My summary though, is that the basic CAD cards are still fine for almost all users. It is even better than the prebuilt water coolers, and again it is quiet. Dell Support
For the budget setups, I have had great luck with ASRock Extreme boards.I think you will find in the long run that the pre packaged bundle are almost always trying to All Rights Reserved. I would like to try overclocking, though, so can anyone tell me how much more PSU I would need? It may be x39 (=x39*100) or something else. So you run a DP cable from the video card to monitor #1 DP in then a second DP cable from monitor #1 DP out to monitor #2 DP in and
It would cost more to build an i7-4770 computer from scratch without a discrete card, to be honest. $550 for a computer like that is pretty amazing. As for your original question: If you can, it is fairly easy to justify getting a premium system, which I have under the next header. These Xeon chips give you access to ECC memory, which does an error correcting check whenever it uses the memory. Tough to say.
Is this just personal choice if you don't have budget to have both?Sorry i didn't write down for what these PCs with Solid Works will be used for. They are very quiet, because there is sound dampening material on the inside. It's that time of the decade again, and I am faced with the old Motherboard/CPU conundrum. My choices are i7 4790, i7 4770, most of the Xeon E3-12XX series and of course several i3s and i5s. Not sure how much case and power supply cost in teh US. Most of my work is for small assemblies or individual parts, although occasional jobs involve fairly intricate single parts.

If rendering is actually slowing down your productivity (you use it more than "once in a while"), then there are other things to consider.
On my budget builds, I go hybrid all the way. However, Charles is the expert in these parts and might have a different oppinion. I haven't seen much discussion here about number of cores vs clock speed and simulation. Will this size case work with the component choices recommended in this thread [Bitfenix Prodigy]? The NVIDIA Quadro K600 has inched away as a better value, so that is actually my first pick. Boxx machines are whisper quiet, and come with a full 3 year warranty. CPU and thermal paste not included. hunterbuchanan Jul 12, 2013 9:49 AM (in response to quietpcseeker) You can configure a Dell Precision T1700 with an i7-4770 and no discrete video card for about $1000 (give or take).
I am considering going with the i7-4930K (6 cores) or the i7-4790K (devil's canyon). I would love the opportunity to refresh my review, now that AMD has newer drivers. So in theory the V4900 is still a great pick, but actual testing as of January shows Do you think the specs you list from early 2014 would suit my needs?
