During my debug sessions I ran across several others who have had the same problem with Kaby Lake. Many ultraportable laptops have a much lower 1,920-by-1,080-resolution (full HD) screen and are dimmer (250-350 nits). The new version's aluminum top and bottom lids are a bit redder than on the Gold Edition, and deeper than the glossy copper accents on the HP Spectre 13. If there aren't other issues with 4.4 kernel, that's OK with me.

The firmware is what kills us the most though. Other users are reporting the same issues with other usb-c to hdmi adapters / monitors combinations.
