I am not sure if memory is related to your boot issue but you can check it using Memtest+. Several functions may not work. RAM can be another cause ,but will sometimes shutdown and restart over and over. I have unplugged everything from my PSU apart from my windows hard drive and graphics card and still get the random shutdowns. If your computer stays shut down, this would definitely indicate a problem with the power switch.
