I did not have a blow dryer so followed the one approach that I read here here to block the vents, turned it on and wrapped it in a blanket.

I've been using this hair dryer trick since Jan 2013. What can be done? Today I tried the hair dryer trick-and it worked! Tried the hair dryer first, unsuccessfully, but tried it again using a heat gun and that worked!

Do you own a laptop with the same/similar problems? It worked for about 9 months (not bad) and then it did the black screen again. I told him it was probably a temp fix but this was so easy if we have the same problem again I'll just get the hair dryer out again. We reflow the video chip with a ACHI Dark IR station, its a lot like other BGA rework stations but its a lot less stressful on the BGA video and parts.

I had this exact problem, and I was worried about "baking" my laptop, so I tried the method mentioned above where I just taped up all the vents and holes and
