Not sure how long this will last. There is an option to "snapshot icons" on for example AmigaOS versions. I have to go to the folder, click desktop and then open the icons from the folder. It was working fine until a couple days ago, I dunno what happened? It's easy! You can get to the display setting by going to Power Options from the Control Panel and then clicking on Change plan settings. You have quite a few icons on the Windows desktop, and you want them to be arranged in some way that makes sense to you.
Dammit. Works fine now. If updating the driver does not solve the problem, try tweaking the video card settings, such as changing its resolution or the display mode. This resets the defect in windows.
and you can't change any of the things you would like to Windows 10 FAIL. If Windows keeps moving the desktop icons and does not let you rearrange them at will, then most probably the Auto-arrange icons option is turned on. That should take care of your prob. appreciate your help Barbara.
Note: If you are simply trying to get the Computer, Control Panel, Recycle Bin, Network or User's Files icons back, then you just need to right-click on the desktop, click Personalize, click check it out I've never had this problem til this afternoon. Not to run that program :-) or look through its settings, maybe there is an option to adjust the screen resolution it uses. Arrange icons 1 Un-check Auto arrange icons. 2 Check Align icons to grid. 3 Arrange icons to required position. 4 Right click desktop, Left click Refresh. The option has always been unticked on my PC . Some programs (such as computer games in particular) change the screen resolution when you run them.
